Don't panic....we're OK!
I don't know what they've been telling you over in the UK, but really, the panic is over! Everything is under control, you don't have to cancel your holidays!!!
I got an email this morning from a friend saying that the English newspapers were advising people not to travel to Gran Canaria. What is that all about? OK, these fires aren't normal, many people and their homes were affected, but we're talking about specific places on the island, the whole island wasn't up in flames.
Yesterday we got a bloke saying he wasn't going to book with us after all because a relative of his on the island was cutting their holidays short in Maspalomas because of all the smoke! I reckon he was just trying to find a decent excuse to cancel with us, but please, what have they been telling you all?
I can make jokes about it, but this could have an effect on our tourism to the island. Every year tourism decreases in the Canaries, add to that false advice, and we have a problem. I don't know whether it's just a coincidence, but this week the number of rental enquiries we've had really has decreased!
So please everyone, don't go making any uninformed decisions. It's quite safe to come and spend your holidays in Gran Canaria, and if you choose Club Vista Serena, they'll be even better!
