Just take a look at the resort now! It's taken a few months to get all the apartment blocks done, but we've finally got there, and I think it looks great! There were a few of you umming and arring about the new colours, but now we can see the final picture, I think you'll agree, it does look pretty spectacular! I don't know why, but when I pull up to Vista Serena in the morning with the car, I get the feeling of being inbetween children's building blocks. It's a nice feeling though.
Hope you like the photos!

Me and my mate Ruth (that's my Dad in the background too)
Well, another year older! 29 today. I must admit, I don't feel too bad at the moment about nearing 30, but I'm sure next year will be a very traumatic time for me! :-)
My day has been excellent so far. I've received tons of texts from friends and family, I've had 2 phone calls with someone singing happy birthday to me (one in English, another in Spanish), and the day isn't over yet!
I suppose there are good things and bad things about nearing your 30's. You're more mature, you know what you want, you don't take as much crap as you used to, and all you want to be is happy.
I sometimes get a bit depressed thinking that I'm nearly 30, haven't got a house, no steady bloke, no kids...but hey! Do you know what? I'm happy! I'm more confident now than I've ever been, I'm doing what I want to do, and I'm having a good time while I do it. So who cares if I'm not following the "normal" path. What's normal nowadays anyway? Not a lot. We're all different, with different ways of thinking. I think all anybody wants to be is happy, so that's my wish for this year....HAPINESS ALL ROUND!
The beer is on me....anyone fancy a pint????

I think it's great when you can make friends at work. This is a photo of me and my mate Neil. You can just see the arm of his wife Debbie at the side of us...I hope she's not upset that she's not in the photo! Sorry Debs! Anja took the photo not me! You can have a bottle of rosé Torres on me the next time you're out! Hehehehehe!I met Neil on the resort at Club Vista Serena way back in 2003, my first year here, when he came out with another couple of friends of his. Since that first time, he's now become a Member at Vista Serena, he's got married to Debbie and she's now a Member at Vista Serena, he's brought his brother Steve and his wife Sharon out and they're now Members at Vista Serena, and they've brought friends over with them to enjoy Vista Serena too. And do you want to know the best thing of it all....they're all from SHEFFIELD! No, not just that, they've become real mates! I love it when they're out, and we have chats on the phone when they're back at home.
It's what really makes my job worthwhile...Neil & Debs.....see you next year!!!

It's been years since I've had any, and I mentioned it to a couple of friends on the resort (from my home town of Sheffield!), and guess what! They're out here at the moment, and they brought me 12 packets over! Fantastic! After living here in Gran Canaria nearly 4 and a half years, you start to miss things from back home. Here's a list of what I miss as well as the Walkers Sqaures (most of it will probably be food!)- My Mum's Yorkshire Pudding with lashings of gravy!
- Fish and Chips from Tony's chip shop (only those from Sheffield will know about Tonys)
- Having a curry after a good night out
- Having a lunch time lager on a Sunday
- My brother
- Turkish Delights
- Battenburg cake
- Chocolate raisen poppets (not so much now though, I've found a supplier...thanks Robert!)
- English humour or perhaps Sheffield humour, who knows...
- A proper English pub
- Cherry Bakewells
- An English Christmas
I could probably go on, but it'd take me all afternoon! Of course it goes without saying that I miss all my family and friends, but I've made a whole new bunch of friends over here, so I can't complain!
So now you know...the next time you're over...I'll put my order in. Not sure how you're going to bring over an English pub though.....
